1. Share your CrossFit Prototype experience and fitness journey:
Sue Black and I have faced many WODs together so it is only appropriate that we are Prototype members of the month together. Also if it were not for Sue, I probably would not be at the gym. My CrossFit journey started at Small Town. I loved my 6:30 am crew. It was while I was at Small Town that I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to leave for a year to undergo surgeries, chemo and radiation. When the year was up, Sue was right there making sure I was coming back. It was just the nudge I needed to get over my self-doubt. When I learned shortly after that that we were going to merge with Prototype I had my doubts again, but the community was so welcoming, fun, and caring, not to mention the great coaches, that those doubts disappeared very quickly and soon it felt like one happily blended family.
2. What is your favorite part about being at CFP?
The community. What a great group of people, I feel so blessed to be a part of it. I also love that I am able to share that community with my daughter. Prototype is such a supportive and encouraging group and I was surprised to find so many folks there who have overcome adversity. I feel like here people are not only survivors but thrivers.
3. What are your hobbies and activities?
I love watching my kids play sports. I love to watch my daughter compete in weightlifting (although it is a bit nerve wracking 😉 I also enjoy traveling and exploring with my family, hiking, cross-country skiing and doing agility with my dogs. Linda has gotten my to get back into knitting as well – thanks Linda.
4. How has (if it has) CFP helped you outside the gym (in sports etc)?
Short answer – I feel great!
Being in shape helped tremendously with my recovery and working with Jon on my nutrition has given me more energy and done wonders for the side effects I was experiencing from medication
5. What are you continuing fitness goals to this point?
To keep building my strength, endurance and gymnastic skill while having fun with a great group of people and not getting hurt – it is such a bummer when you can’t get to the gym. This year is the year of the toe-to-bar.

It changes, but usually it is something I am trying to incorporate more into my life. Lately it is:

1.) Share your CrossFit Prototype experience and fitness journey:
My son, Joe, and his wife Kati, introduced me to CrossFit. I’d had always walked or ran(very slowly!) and found as I got older, that was not enough to keep in shape. I went to an open house at the SmallTown gym and was intrigued by it. So I gave it a shot and here I am 5 years later still trying to get in shape!
2.) What is your favorite part about being at CFP?
The people for sure! Even though I’m no longer working I still come to the 6 a.m. class to be with my friends, particularly Carter, who encourages and motivates me every day. She’s an inspiration! The coaches have been so supportive as well, especially before my elbow surgery. Almost every class I needed to modify and they were so helpful giving me alternative exercises.
3.) What are your hobbies and activities?
I recently started golfing again and have always enjoyed walking with my neighborhood friends. I love spending time with, and cooking for my family. I especially enjoy spending time with my children. My husband and I have been travelling and we are looking forward to spending some time in Florida this winter.
4.) How has (if it has) CFP helped you outside the gym (in sports etc)?
I definitely have more energy and endurance.
5.) What are you continuing fitness goals to this point?
Honestly, just to be able to continue participating in the classes. I’m not getting any younger! And, maybe someday I will be able to do a true toes to bar!

My Dad always says, “What are you going to do!” So just take things in stride and not fret too much!
